A broken vase

  The young man going to marry a beautiful girl. One day the girl said to him next day she would celebrate her birthday and invited him to her birthday party. The young man was eager to make her a present, so he went to a girl shop. There he saw many beautiful things. Of all the things he particulary liked the vases. But they were very expensive, and as he had very little money he had to leave the shop without buying anything. Making for the door he suddenly heard a noise: one of the vases fell on the floor and broke to pleases. A brilliant idea came to his mind. He came up to counter and asked the salesman to wrap up the broken vase he wanted to buy. The salesman got a little surprised but did what the young man had asked him to do. A FUNNY STORY

Once a man went to a shop and bought a pair of trousers. When he came home, he put the trousers on. Then he saw that they were too long for him.
So he went to his wife and said:
"Please make my trousers shorter, they are too long for me, I can¬not put them on."
But the wife said: "I have no time now. I must wash the plates. It is late now, I shall do it tomorrow."
The man went to his daughter and asked her:
"Can you make mu trousers shorter? I cannot put them on."
"No, I cannot," said the daughetr. "I must do my lessons now. I shall do it tomorrow"-
The man went to his sister, but she could not help him. She said: "I must make my dress now. I shell do it tomorrow".
So the man went to bed and left his new trousers on a chair near his bed.

THE LADY OR THE TIGER

In the old days, a barbaric king lived in a far-off country. He had great power, and he liked to laugh. Also, he liked to play barbaric jokes with the law. When the man broke a law, the king did not always send him to prison. Sometimes he or¬dered the man to come to the king's arena and then invited all the people to co¬me and watch.
After the people were in their seats, the king would sit down on his high thro¬ne, and the prisoner would step into the centre of the arena. Opposite him were two doors exactly alike. Behind one door was a hungry tiger. Behing the other door was a beautiful lady. The prisoner could open either door. The choice was his. But he had to open a door. lf the tiger came out, it ate the man. Then the people were sad be¬cause the man was guilty. If the beautiful lady came out, a prist married the two immediately. Then the people were glad because the man was innocent. Either way, the king was pleased with himself. -

THE LITTLE CRUSOES

Billy wanted to be Crusoe. But I said that I wanted to be Crusoe, too. Billy said that it was his plan. So Billy became Crusoe and I became Friday.
First we wanted to look for a good place for our house. At last we found a very large hole in the ground. We came down into it, and very soon fell fast, asleep. We slept for a long time.
When I opened my eyes, it was dark. I wanted to say something to Billy, when I heard a voice. We listened to it, and heard our names.
"Don't speak," said Billy softly. We did not speak for some time. But suddenly Scraps jumped up, and before I could stop him, gave a couple of loud barks. I caught him by the collar and listened.
For some time it was still, and then we saw two men. One was the old Quirk, the man who lived near the park. The other was a man whom I did not know.
